Next week will be my last week of my contract with the current mobile service provider so I did start shopping for a reasonable service based on my current phone usage and lifestyle so compared services and fees and I ended-up with the Cingular, the company that purchase At&T wireless so basically I didn’t switch provider just the name.
I also decided to keep my mobile phone because I really like my high-end (a year ago) Moto phone and I don’t want to spend another dime (you guess it, Im cheap!) just to have a nice slick phone with all those bells and whistles.
I called Cingular, my current provider (former AT&T wireless) to have my phone unlock but the guy on the other line said they don’t unlock phone.. I said what?? I purchased this phone for the tune $299 a year ago and you just want me to trow it away? He said yes! that’s right! really a clever answer. Anyway, I ended up in Google and searched how to unlock my cell phone and it came up a bunch for results which in the end I sent it to a technician to unlock it for $10 + S&H which I believe is still reasonable than just throwing my high-end phone just like that.
My question is why is Cingular doing this stuff, when I was with T-Mobile I didn’t get this kind of answer when I requested to unlock my phone which is BTW is pretty fast.
